Seamless Ingest from Interview Room to DIMS Case Folders
Digital interviews have become a central part of modern investigations. Detectives rely on clear recordings, accurate metadata, and dependable storage to keep every statement intact. Linear Systems supports this workflow through a seamless ingest path from the interview room to structured DIMS case folders, helping agencies maintain accuracy, consistency, and reliable access across every step.
Digital Interview Room
The digital interview room is set up to record high-quality audio and video without requiring detectives to manage complicated equipment. Rooms can be equipped with multiple cameras and microphones, including overt or covert devices, whether analog or IP-based. Once recording begins, the system captures the full session without interruptions, allowing detectives to stay focused on the conversation rather than technical tasks or extensive note-taking.
Every session is automatically tagged with important information such as case number, interviewer, location, and date. This metadata becomes part of the digital evidence package, helping investigators search, filter, and retrieve recordings whenever needed. By handling both the capture and organization of interview files, the room setup supports consistent documentation for every investigation.
Case Folder Management
After the session is completed, the recording and metadata are transferred into the appropriate DIMS case folder. Linear Systems structures these folders to maintain the chain of custody and allow proper organization for each investigation. Video files, audio tracks, and XML-based search data are stored securely on the DIMS ImageServer or on local storage configured with mirrored RAID drives for redundancy.
Once ingested, authorized users can review the recordings through the DIMS AV Command module. They can choose specific segments or full sessions, export selected files, or prepare copies for Blu-ray, DVD, CD, or thumb drives. The system also provides deletion options for authorized roles, supporting agency policies for retention and storage management.
This structured folder approach helps investigators keep all evidence, including interviews, field captures, and related materials, grouped under one case, ready for internal review or external sharing.
Connected Workflow Across Modules
The ingest process does not end in the interview room. DIMS integrates with other Linear Systems modules, such as mobile apps for field acquisition and BOLO management tools. This connected environment brings all digital evidence into one system, giving agencies a unified place to manage interviews, field videos, images, and alerts.
From recording to review, the path from the digital interview room to DIMS case folders is designed for accuracy, organization, and dependable storage. To see how Linear Systems supports full evidence workflows, schedule a demo today.
