Linear Systems can provide a software only solution using VMWare or any software based solution needed for the acquisition, forensic processing (comparative analysis), digital photo lab output and/or enhancement, and server based case management software that is designed for functionality and support-ability in a virtual environment. There are many advantages to the VMWare option & Linear Systems Software based VMWare Solution(s) are large enough and capable of supporting 100,000,000 plus assets/evidence or massive amounts of raw data, including imagery, audio and video, DIMS2 is only limited by the system resources available.
“Mistakes” in the chain of custody for digital assets as evidence can be extremely costly to an Agency and cause lasting damage to their credibility. Linear solutions are highly scalable for implementation in numerous size or multi-site agencies!
As a virtual turnkey solution, with software features tailored to your Agency by Linear Systems. All system software can be installed, as well as, integrated into existing equipment; then calibrated, and tested to meet your agency or company needs. Our VMWare or virtual solution has the same level of chain of command and all the same high end features available within a complete turnkey hardware and software solution but it tailored to run just as effectively and efficiently in a virtual environment.
Linear Systems does require a level of communication with IT and controlled/monitored access to the VMware and storage systems to allow full support of the solution to the very high standards set by the Linear Systems Technical Support group. There will be fixed annual support costs for maintenance in a VMware environment.
DIMS and DIMS ImageServer are self-monitoring and self-healing so if or when a problem arises, Linear should be able to provide a quick and simple solution. Additionally, with other systems, software and storage upgrades can be complicated, difficult, and time consuming.

Linear Systems requires Vsphere 5 and above, 4 vCPUs, 9GB vRam, 500G of space minimum for OS drive, and iSCSI or CIFS connectivity to the data storage pool & also require a minimum of two data storage pools but recommends three for 100% uptime.
